Because of its great reputation and the fact that I didn't really follow the number of recommended applications per day or the amount of given time needed in order see results, I don't want to completely write this product off as a bad product for me. However, I do want to let you know about my experiences with this product, which is a mix of good and bad.

First of all, this product is quite pricey for a drugstore product. I am sure there are more expensive products out there, but for it being sold in drugstores, it is pretty high up there. For being so pricey, it was impossible for me to follow their recommended, twice a day application of an extended 3-month period of time.

Here are the reasons why:

1. The smallest bottle, 2 fl oz, cost around $17.00 after tax, or if you are lucky you buy it when it's on sale at "buy one get one 50% off".
2. If I applied it on my body twice a day, I would be using up at least three of these small bottles. I used the oil mostly on my legs and stomach, where I unfortunately became the primary meal source for fleas a few months ago.
3. If I were to try this out for the recommended 3-month period, I would use up at least 9 bottles, resulting in spending around $150.00.

Now that is definitely not within my budget!

So I settled for a once a day usage (after my shower) and, although I purchased two bottles, I stopped using it after one bottle, which lasted me about two & half weeks.

So why did I decided to try out this oil in the first place? Well, back in late May/early June, one of the families I worked for had a flea infestation and since bugs love me (they think I'm tasty), I brought them home, resulting in over 30 bites all over my legs and stomach, resulting in scaring and discoloration on my skin. Perfect way to start off the summer, right?

I remembered loving this oil for my dry hands and the fact that it is known to make scars disappear, I decided to try it out. However, after two & half weeks I decided to stop. My scars are still visible, but understandable since I did not follow the directions stated behind the bottle, but I stopped using it because I did not like what it did to the skin on my legs. The first layer of skin on my legs looked like snake skin and felt like snake skin.

You see, the skin on my legs is completely different from the rest of the skin on my body. It is dry, dry, dry, and the oil seemed to be moisturizing that dry layer of skin, keeping the dry layer from coming off. I tried exfoliating, but it didn't work. It also made my legs very itchy after I put on the oil. I just couldn't stand the way my legs felt and looked.

However, due to past experiences, this oil did wonders for my hands (probably because I reapplied at least 5 times a day) so I will use up the 2nd bottle for my hands when winter comes.

Here are a bunch of reviews about Bio-Oil where it did work for these users. Notice that most of the reviewers are from older women.

I hope this review was helpful!
