Brushes: MUA (Makeup Academy) Pro BB/CC Cream Brush Review

This is an $18.00 face brush from CVS...$18.00! I swear, prices just keep going up with these new brands! Makeup Academy (MUA) is actually a company from England, and they are known to be extremely affordable, like e.l.f (eyeslipsface) prices and recently, they teamed up with CVS and created an entire line sold exclusively to CVS drugstores. So you will not be finding this brand at Target or Walgreens.

For the most the MUA line (which consist of lip products, eyelashes, and brushes), prices are pretty reasonable, around $5.00-$10.00. So for this brush being a whopping $18.00, my expectations of this brush was up there.

The product came in a nice sturdy box. MUA definitely did well on the presentation. The weight of the brush is also very nice, it has what I like to call an "Expensive weight or pricey weight." I was impressed with how the brush felt in my hands, it felt well made.

The brush hairs are cut into a domed-shape, and is made out of both natural and synthetic bristles. It is also two-toned. MUA claims that the "Brush head is perfectly contoured and has a uniquely fiber density to roll and buff product over the skin for a glowing, ultra-natural finish."

I, however, had a completely different experience. The fibers or hairs of the brush was actually a bit scratchy on my face. It didn't hurt while I applied my BB Cream or foundation, but it wasn't pleasant either. The brush also left streaks on my face, and no matter how much I tried to blend my BB Cream, the overall look still looked patchy and uneven. I had to go over my face with my fingers to even everything out. I also used this brush with foundation to see if it will work on a thicker product. I still got the same streaky results and I didn't bother trying it with a cream blush.

I believe the uneven application is caused by how disperse the hairs of the brush are placed. Even though MUA claims that the brush has a nice density to it, the brush-head still felt flimsy, as if it was going bald, which after a few uses it will be because every time I used it, it shed about two to three fibers.

I give this product a 1.0 out of 5.0 due to all the issues I had with the brush and for $18.00, it should have performed better than this! A $3.00 e.l.f Studio Stipple Brush surpasses this BB/CC Cream Brush by leagues.

In conclusion, I don't recommend this brush.
Happy Wandering! Alice
