Review: L'oreal Voluminous Miss Manga "Black Angel" Mascara

This mascara was actually pretty tough to find, but I finally found it! SCORE!
But was it worth the trouble looking for it every time I hit up a CVS or Target?

The answer it...NO.

And here is why.

The idea behind L'oreal's Voluminous Miss Manga "Black Angel" is the intense black pigmentation compared to the Original "Miss Manga" Mascara. It's kind of like L'oreal's Voluminous "Carban Black" Mascara where the Carbon Black is suppose to be the 2x more intense black then the Voluminous "Original" Mascara

L'oreal claims that this Mascara "contains the darkest pigments in the entire Miss Manga range. The Mega Impact formula instantly builds oversized volume, leaving top lashes amplified and bottom lashes maximized for the Ultimate wide-eyed Manga look."

Here is what my lashes look like with no mascara, just curled, and the photos to the right are what my lashes look like with just one coat of the "Black Angel" mascara. I rarely add two coats of mascara on, because I enjoy the more natural look.

To be completely honest with you, I see no difference to my lashes when I use this, "Black Angel" versus the Original Miss Manga "Blackest Black" Mascara.

The brush to the "Black Angel" is just like the Original Miss Manga Mascara. It is the same tapered, criss-cross, bristled brush, with a flexible wand. It is one of my favorite shaped mascara brushes to date because of it's tapered shape. It makes it easy to get to the smaller lashes towards the inner corners of the eyes and for someone that has short and sparse lashes, I am truly grateful for that.

Top Wand: Original "Miss Manga", Bottom Wand: "Black Angel"
The formula is thicker than the Original Miss Manga, so more of the product clings to the brush, in-turn, more product will apply to the lashes. However, in pigmented-wise, it has the same intense black as the Original "Blackest Black" Miss Manga. Both mascaras retails at $7.99, so if you have one of these mascaras already, there is no need to go and buy the other one.

Now let's talk about this mascara without comparing it to anything. This is a great mascara. It adds volume and length without it being too clumpy (unless you like that look, then you can get that look by layering it on). It does smudges a little after a few hours of wear, but nothing too bad. It is also easy to take off with eye makeup remover.

So all-in-all this is not a bad mascara. It something I would repurchase again.

Have you tried this Mascara yet? If so, how do you like it?

Happy Wandering! Alice
