Eye Shadow Primers: e.l.f Eye Primers: Essential vs Mineral

I like both primers, they are both very inexpensive, they both work well, and they both come in convenient application packaging. I prefer to apply eye primer with a wand than any other method. However, I do prefer one over the other.

Rate: Both is a close 5.0 out of 5.0
Price: Essential: $1.00, Mineral: $3.00
Where: Eyeslipsface.com, Target

What the Company says:
Essential:
Preps your eyelid for smoother, longer-lasting and crease-proof eyeshadow. The lightweight liquid formula quickly absorbs into the skin for comfortable wear and increases eye color longevity.

Mineral:

This gentle and completely sheer Eyeshadow Primer has key vitamins A, C and E to help prevent aging and moisturizes the skin. The formula glides on easily and disappears instantly to create longer-lasting, crease-proof eyeshadow. The Mineral Eyeshadow Primer is designed to be used with your favorite mineral eyeshadow to provide ultimate staying power for beautiful and vibrant color that lasts. All our mineral makeup are mineral-based with no parabens, no preservatives and no chemical dyes.

What I think:

In all honesty, I prefer the Mineral over the Essential. They both work beautifully with eyeshadow pigmentation, however I like the texture of the Mineral Primer a lot more.

From the Essential Line

  • The Essential primer is more thin and oily, while the Mineral has more of a solid feel.
  • The Essential primer feels like a slick, thin layer that sinks into the skin like a serum than an actual base, while the Mineral provides that strong layer that I look for in a primer, and it also helps conceal any discoloration on my lids as well.
  • I also feel that the Mineral primer last a lot longer than the Essential with eyeshadow staying power.

From the Mineral Line
So in conclusion, I will repurchase the Mineral Primer again, but not the Essential, unless it came in a set. However, both come with reasonable prices, so I don't regret getting the Essential at all.

Happy Wandering! Alice
