Eyeshadow Palette: Urban Decay - Vice3 Palette Review

This is my first Urban Decay Vice Palette. I have always wanted one, but never got the urge to buy one until now. The selling point was the fact that this palette contain 20 NEW SHADES and if it weren't for that, I probably would have skipped it again this year, since it retails at $60, and there are other Holiday palettes that I could have gotten for a better value.

Let's look at the swatches first. There are a few misses in this palette, but the ones that are vibrant and beautiful, completely makes up for the streaky and powdery shades.

Here is the 20 eyeshadows and they are organized in columns (the most organized out of the three vice palettes). So column one is where you will find your neutral, everyday colors, as well as, transitions shades and highlight shades. The next three columns are where you will find rich, jewel tones shadows, as well as, some great metallics and a beautiful, iridescent white. The last and fifth column is where you will find more neutral shades, as well as, smoky, darker shadows.

To be honest, the neutral columns (first and fifth) are not that great. Most of the matte shades are powdery and hard to work with. Especially, Revolver, the black shadow at the bottom right hand corner, this shadow is streaky and it takes a lot of time and effort to blend once you manage to pack enough color on your lids. Luckily, the jewel tones (the three middle columns) are beautiful shadows. Not only are the colors itself are beautiful, but they are vibrant and easier to work with. These colorful shadows are the reasons why I bought this palette. My favorite column is definitely the second, blue-green column; especially the top two shadows (Dragon & Freeze).

Now for the swatches (Description of the shadows are taken from the Urban Decay Website because they do a much better job at describing colors than I do):

Column 1:

Truth: (Pale Pink-Nude Matte)
Undone: (Pink-Beige Matte Satin w/ Tonal Pearl)
Downfall: (Warm Light Brown Matte)
DTF: (Smoky Taupe Satin)
*Truth, Undone, & Downfall are all very powdery shadows. You will need an eyeshadow primer for this!*

Column 2:

Dragon: (Bright Metallic Green Shimmer)
Freeze: (Metallic Medium Blue w/ Micro-Glitter)
Heroine: (Deep Navy Blue w/ subtle Tonal Pearl)
Brokedown: (Metallic Golden Brown Shimmer w/ Gold Micro-Glitter)
*Dragon and Freeze are such unique and beautiful shadows.*

Column 3:

Vanity: (Smoky Metallic Egg Plant w/ Micro-glitter)
Lucky: (Metallic Bronze) *This is an amazing Bronze!*
Reign: (Rich Brown Satin)
Bobby Dazzle: (Metallic w/ Pale Cold Micro-Glitter)
*Lucky and Bobby Dazzle are my favorites here.*

Column 4:

Alien: (Pink-Peach w/ Golden Shift)
Alchemy: (Deep Fuchsia Satin)
Bondage: (Deep, Smoky Burgundy Shimmer)
Sonic: (Metallic Red Copper) *Another gorgeous, unique color*
*This is another beautiful column.*

Column 5:
Last Sin: (Champagne Shimmer w/ Silver Micro-Glitter)
Angel: (Light Taupe w/ Silver Micro-Glitter)
Defy: (Smoky Taupe Satin)
Revolver: (Soft Black Satin w/ Subtle Floating Iridescent Pearl) *Do not let Revolver's swatch mislead you. I had to go over it again to make it look this great!*

If you are looking for neutral everyday shadows, I would say get their amazing NAKED palettes instead, but if you are looking for some unique, colorful shadows, this is for you.

The packaging for the palette is also pretty different from the other two VICE palettes. It also comes with a pouch, which is a great way to keep your palette protected. An iPad-Mini also fits in it, or you can just use it as a makeup pouch.

I will definitely be playing with this palette and will be coming up with some fun looks, so keep a look out for that! I hope this review was helpful, and if you have your own VICE3, let me know what you think about it!

Happy Wandering! Alice
