Revlon PhotoReady Primer, Shadow + Sparkle in "Metropolitan"

I was intrigued with the bottom two shadows of the quint, the primer and the sparkle top coat. I thought it was such a good idea to have a primer shadow built in with the whole set, and the sparkle topper is a welcomed bonus.

There are 8 palettes available, and I chose "Metropolitan" because of its basic, wearable colors. I was more curious about the quality of the shadows versus picking the most unique palette, and Revlon do have a few interesting color combinations available. They retail at $10.79 a quint.

The quality of the colors are soft and smooth in texture. They are quite beautiful and rich in color. They are easy to apply and easy to blend. The sparkle top coat is also wonderful. The glitter actually shows up and stays on the lids for a good amount of time.

On the other hand, I was disappointed with the primer. I was hoping it was going to be a cream shadow so that it can have that tackiness an eye primer would have so powder can stick to it, but the primer in this palette was just a normal eyeshadow. The color is beautiful and pigmented, but it is not a primer. It works as a pretty base shadow, but it is definitely not a primer.
Another problem I had with this palette is that the five colors do not work well together in one look. The colors would look muddy together, mainly because there isn't a proper transition color. There are also two colors that just do not go well with each other. The crease shadow has silver shimmer in it, and it the color on the cooler side, while the glitter top coat contains warm, gold glitter, and is on the warm side. You are only able to use one or the other, not the two together.

Besides these issues, individually, the colors are beautiful. The highlight shadow and the "primer" shadow work with any of the three shadows to create amazing simple looks, and even look amazing by themselves for a simple, casual day look. I see this quint being perfect for travel. Of course, I am only speaking for "Metropolitan" and can not say for the rest of the seven quints.

Have you tried any of the Revlon PhotoReady Primer, Shadow + Sparkle Palettes before? Which one do you have, and what are your opinions on them? Let me know in the comments!

Happy Wandering, Alice.
