Perfume: Hanae Mori "Butterfly" Eau de Parfum Review

"Butterfly" ~ a rare blend of berries and flowers with a distinctive tone of strawberries and almond, and a lingering impression of Vanilla.

Distribution can be found at the Sephora website.

Notes: Strawberry, Black Current, Bulgarian Rose, Jasmine, Ylang-Ylang, Sandalwood, Almond, Praline.

The bottle is simply gorgeous, yet so simple. The top is in a shape of a butterfly, which is very fitting for the name of the fragrance.

Even though the packaging is perfect, the perfume on the other hand is a bit of a disappointment.

Initially, straight out of the bottle, as the perfume is sprayed onto your skin, you get a huge whiff of Vanilla. As it lands on the skin, you will start to smell the fruity notes and a hint of the Bulgarian Rose, and if you have a better sense of smell than I do, you will probably be able to smell more of the notes. It also has this warmth to the scent that I quite enjoy. I see this as a winter fragrance.

So the initial smell was a great promise, but after an hour of wearing, the sweet blend of fruits and florals begin the fade and what you are left with is the smell of soft, warm Vanilla. The Vanilla smells great, but it is still a bit disappointing, especially when a 1.7 fl oz bottle retails at $105.00. At that price, I expect more than just a Vanilla Perfume.

Happy Wandering! Alice
