Tutorial: "How to Lift the Eyes" Kat Von D's Eye Technique Tips

Hi everyone! Today I present the third and last of Kat Von D's Eye Technique Tips,
"How to Lift the Look of your Eyes" Smokey eye version.

All the shadows I used for this look is from Kat Von D's Shade + Light Eye Contour Palette

Step #1:Apply Base Shadow all over the eyelid and blend upwards to brow.

Base Shadow: Lazarus (Cool Taupe)
This cool taupe shadow happens to be my favorite taupe eyeshadow that I have in my collection!

Step #2: Place "Highlight Shadow" on inner lid and dust softly on brow bone.

Highlight Shadow: Liberatus (Pinkish Ivory)

Step #3: Add "Contour Shadow" to crease area and outer corner & blend.

Remember the key to getting that smokey effect is to lightly add color and to blend a lot. If you do add too much of the contour shadow, just add more of the base shadow to even things out and blend some more. It also helps to use a clean fluffy brush to do the blending.

Contour Shadow: Saleos (Smoky Brown)

Step #4: Using a smudge brush to pat "Define Shadow" on crease area and outer corner to desired level of depth and blend. Ensure that the finished angle is turned upwards and outwards to create lifting effect.

Define Shadow: Shax (jet black)

If you want the shadow to look more crisp and clean, take a q-tip; wet one end and leave the other end dry. First use the wet end to take off excess amount of shadow at the corners, and finish and dry the area with the dry end of the q-tip.

Finally line the eyes. I only tightlined the upper and bottom lash lines because I felt that the black shadow already shaped my eyes perfectly, but if you want a more dramatic look, use a liquid liner to draw on a wing and extend it upwards and outwards using the black shadow as a guideline.

Then add mascara, and for a more dramatic look, add false lashes.

And the eyes should look more lifted! If you want to see a step-by-step video of the look, click on the link provided, "Video: How to Lift the Eyes".

Happy Wandering! Alice
