Tutorial: 1st Impressions using NEW Maybelline Makeup (2016)

Recently I hauled a ton of new Maybelline makeup and I thought why not test them out in a tutorial for you. There are some products that I couldn't help but have already tried out, but the majority of the makeup I used to create this Natural Red Lip Look is makeup I used for the first time.

I am going to share my thoughts with you on each product but if you want to see how I applied each product, here is a link to my video tutorial: 1st Impressions using NEW Maybelline Makeup (2016).

So I will be talking about each product from left to right order:
Maybelline Master Prime "Blur + Illuminate" Face Primer
This primer have a slight pinkish color to it, so it gave my skin a brighter look. The texture is also a cream versus the usual slick silicon-base primers, and I love its fresh scent!

I love this foundation but I do not like the blender. The foundation is a great semi-matte, medium to full coverage that is also lightweight, which is great! This is one of the few medium to full coverage foundations I like. Usually I can't stand having full-coverage foundations on my face because of how heavy it sits on my skin. But this foundation was lightweight and didn't feel restricting.

Maybelline Master Fix Setting + Perfecting Loose Powder
I love the smooth, airbrushed finish this powder gave my skin and it is truly a translucent powder!

Maybelline Brow Precise Shaping Pencil "Deep Brown"
It filled in my brows nicely and left my brows looking natural which I look for in brow products. So this product passed in my book.

Maybelline Master Prime Long-Lasting Eye Shadow Base "Prime + Smooth"
I like the mousse-like texture but I do not like how chunky it got when I applied eyeshadow over it. This primer has micro-shimmer in it that seems to bunch up when mixed with powder. Not a pretty look.

Maybelline Expert Wear Eyeshadow "Linen" & "Constant Toast"
Maybelline has repackaged their ExpertWear eyeshadows! The formula on the other hand didn't seem to be reformulated, which is fine because there was nothing wrong with them to begin with. There are definitely better colors than others, but overall I find these shadows easy to work with.

Maybelline Master Contour Face Contouring Kit "Light to Medium"
I first tested this Kit as eyeshadows to test its versatility and it passed the test. The contour powder works great as a transition shade and the highlight is great as an eye brightener.

Maybelline Master Precise Skinny Gel Pencil "Defining Black"
This pencil is skinny! I had a pet peeve moment with this pencil. It is one of those automatic pencil liners that can be twisted up, but it can not be twisted back down! I can't stand packaging like that because it is inconvenient and unnecessary. Also, because the product is so thin, it is easy to break. I also wish the color was a bit more black. Overall it lined my eyes nicely because of how thin it is, but it could have been better.

Maybelline The Falsies Push Up Drama Mascara
On the packaging, the brush head of this mascara looked very interesting, but once I saw it up close in person, I was underwhelmed. The formula of the mascara also did not impressed me. It didn't give my lashes the amount of length or volume I was hoping for, and it didn't wear well throughout the day.

I love this color! It really brightens up the eyes when applied to the waterline and lower lash line. It wears quite well, but I do wish it would stay on the waterline a bit longer than it actually does.

Maybelline Master Contour Face Contouring Kit "Light to Medium"
Now I tested it out the way it was meant to be used and the first thing that pops in my head is that this stuff is intense. The contour and blush powders were highly pigmented! Luckily I was able to buff them out to a partially sheer wash of color, but it was not as sheer as I usually wear my contour and blush colors. These color definitely need a light hand when used.

Maybelline Color Sensational Lip Liner #15 Pink
This lip liner isn't a new product but I wanted to line my lips before adding a lip color on. This lip liner is pretty decent, not the creamiest but it does its job.

I already talked about these Vivid Matte Liquid weeks ago and my opinion on them still stands. The one I used is one of my favorites from the ones I own. The red is beautiful and it glides on the lips beautifully.

Besides a few mishaps, I am impressed with what Maybelline has come out with this year!
Have you tried out any of their new products yet? What are your favorites? Let me know in the comments!

Happy Wandering! Alice
