Maybelline "The Rock Nudes" Eyeshadow Palette Review
I have been so curious about Maybelline's Eyeshadow Palettes ever since they came out, but because of all the negative reviews on them, I always steer clear of them until now. My curiosity peaked and I had to see for myself if these palettes were truly the disaster that everyone say they are...
...and after trying out their new The Rock Nudes Palette, I have to say they are not that horrible, but not wonderful either. They do create some beautiful looks but the looks don't last very long. I would agree with everyone else when they say, save your money and spend it on something else. However, if you are planning on buying it anyways, do know that this palette can create beautiful looks.

The problem with these shadows is not the color variation. I happen to like how cohesive the colors are. They work well with each other and if your are confused about what to pair them with, just turn the palette around and Maybelline has strategically placed a diagram sectioning off the palette in groups of fours, threes and twos. So there is technically an endless amount of looks you can create with this one palette. You also have every texture you need. You have your mattes, shimmers and glitters to create an everyday look to a party look.
The problem with these shadows is the wear time. These are not long lasting shadows. They literally start to fade as you blend out the eyeshadow. So you will find yourself re-appying the shadows several times as you create your eye look. So these shadows are a bit high maintenance and there will be fall out. Also, don't expect your eye look to look the same at the end of the day. I do find the glitter shadows to be decent while the mattes are a huge let down. The fading and smudging is quite apparent after a few hours of wear.

Also, I find the best way to apply the shadows is by using a sponge-tip applicator or your fingers. Most brushes don't work well with these shadows.
Overall, this eyeshadow palette is not worth the $10-$13 that it is retailed for. If you still have your hearts set on this palette, then do buy it on sale. Have you tried any of Maybelline's eyeshadow palettes yet? How do you feel about them? Let me know thoughts!
Happy Wandering! Alice
