Holiday DIY: Sock Snowman

Arn't these the cutest snowmen ever! When I first saw this on Pinterest last year, I knew that I had to make them sometime for the Winter Season. Somehow I thought that these were going to be hard to make, but to my pleasant surprise it was so easy that a toddler can make one, which makes this DIY a great family project.

All you need to create the form of a snowman is a white, long sock (preferably a newer sock that is not too stained gray), rice and string.

Here are the easy steps towards making these cuties!

STEP 1: Cut the sock at the heel. We are going to use the entire sock, but the first section we will be working with is the ankle and heel portion of the sock.

STEP 2: Flip the sock inside-out, and tie the heel part up with a string, and re-flip it outside-in. Now one end is secured. This will be the base of the snowman.

STEP 3: Start filling the sock up with rice. Halfway filled, bunch the top part of the sock, that is not full of rice, with your hand and push the rice down. The rice will instantly fall into place, creating that roundness a snowman is known for. Finally fill the rest of the sock up with rice.

STEP 4: Tie up the top with more string, and cut off any excess string to tidy things up (or you can leave it to add some character.)

STEP 5: The toe part of the sock will become the snowman's beanie. Just flip the open end up once or twice, fit it on its head, and you have an adorable snowman ready to be decorated!
